
Stefano Siviero is Director General for Payments and Market Infrastructures at the Bank of Italy. He joined the Bank of Italy in 1989, contributing to the development of the quarterly econometric model and the production of macroeconomic forecasts. He has served as Head of the Modelling and Forecasting Division (2007-2012) and Head of the Economic Outlook and Monetary Policy Directorate (2013-2020). He has served on several committees and working groups established by the European Commission, the Eurosystem, the G7, the G20 and the Bank for International Settlements, including the Monetary Policy Committee of the European Central Bank (2007-2020) and the Markets Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (2020-2024). Since 2022, he has served as co-chair of a working group of the Financial Stability Board established within the framework of the G20 Roadmap for the improvement of cross-border payments. He has published numerous articles in Italian and international scientific journals, on topics mostly relating to macroeconomic modelling and monetary economics. He has taught statistics, econometrics and international and monetary economics at universities in Italy and abroad. He obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA) in 1995.
