Biography

Since October 2025, Madalena Cascais Tomé has been Chief of Processing and Financial Institutions and a member of Worldline’s Executive Committee. Her extensive experience in payments and digital services makes her ideally positioned to lead Worldline into its next phase of innovation, growth, and transformation. Prior to joining Worldline, Madalena served as CEO of SIBS, where she led an ambitious program of innovation, transformation, and business expansion — serving financial institutions, corporates, merchants, and consumers across the payments value chain in Europe and Africa. She created MB WAY, the first and most comprehensive digital payments solution in the Eurozone and launched numerous new products and services. She also served as Chair of EMPSA (European Mobile Payments Systems Association) and Co-Chair of EuroPA (European Payments Alliance), where she championed the development of digital, instant, and pan-European payments. Madalena is also an advisor and lecturer on innovation and transformation. Previously, she was a Director at Portugal Telecom, overseeing channel and market strategy for B2C and 4-play operations. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Project Manager at McKinsey & Company, leading strategic consulting projects in the banking, insurance, and telecommunications sectors, and as a Senior Consultant at Arthur Andersen/Deloitte, where she pioneered early applications of artificial intelligence in business contexts. Madalena holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lisbon, an International Directors Certification from INSEAD, and an LCOR certification from Harvard. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a consistent commitment to innovation, transformation, and high-impact leadership, successfully guiding complex organizations through fast-changing environments.
