FRANCESCA PROVINI

Biography

Born in Rome in 1969, she graduated in Economics and Business at La Sapienza University in Rome. She has been working at the Bank of Italy since 1992 and has been involved in all the most significant reforms of the payment system. She has focused in particular on the retail payments sector, taking on roles of responsibility and participating in activities and initiatives concerning both traditional components (e.g., the SEPA project, the dematerialization of checks) and more innovative ones related to the digitization of payment services and instruments (e.g., open banking, instant payments, crypto-assets, etc.). Since 2020, he is the Head of the Retail Payment Instruments and Services Division of the Retail Payment Instruments and Services Service. He coordinates the activities of the Italian Payments Committee and participates in national and international working groups; he is a member of the Eurosystem Oversight Working Group and the EBA Standing Group on Payment Services.
