Biography
He was born has served as Deputy Head of the Directorate General for Payments and Market Infrastructures since April 2025. In 1986 he joined Banca d’Italia’s Economic Research Department, initially focussing on credit intermediaries and financial analysis. In the following years he worked in the field of payment system analysis and oversight. He has been part of several committees and working groups within Banca d’Italia, the Eurosystem, the G20 and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Since 2021, he has chaired working groups established by the BIS as part of the G20 Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-border Payments. He has published numerous articles in both Italian and international academic journals. He has taught Monetary Economics courses and spoken at several seminars at universities in Italy and abroad.
