GIOVANNI SPERANZA

Biography

Giovanni Speranza has over twenty years of experience in financial services, digital payments, and management consulting, with a career path progressively built across innovation, commercial strategy, and governance responsibilities. After graduating in Electronic Engineering, he began his career in 1999 in the Telecommunications sector, spending his first three years with the Telecom Italia Group, working on the development of the early ADSL service rollout projects in Italy. In 2002, he moved into Management Consulting, where he spent about seven years, first at KeyPartners and then at Accenture. During this time, he has been involved into important banks merging projects, supporting IT systems integration, retail banking process reengineering, and the implementation of IT Governance models for large banking groups such as Poste Italiane, Intesa and UniCredit. In 2008, he joined American Express, where he built the most significant part of his career. He initially covered the role of Third Parties Senior Manager in the Acquiring area, and progressively took roles of increasing responsibility within the Issuing business, including Director of CRM, Loyalty & Lending, and Director of Marketing, Products & Partnerships.  In 2019, he was appointed Vice President, first as Head of Consumer Sales and more recently as Head of Commercial Services & Partnerships for Italy, with responsibility across all the segments (Consumer, SMEs, and Corporate) and through the main distribution channels. In parallel with his most recent roles, he also covered for six years the role of Head of the Insurance Business and Legal Representative of American Express Insurance Italia, with direct responsibility for strategy, governance, and business development in the insurance sector of American Express Italy. As of May 1st, 2026, Giovanni Speranza has been appointed Managing Director, Banking Sector at NTT DATA Italy.
